As most of you probably know, black is my favorite color. While that may sound a bit morbid or gothic, I promise it’s not. Black is black and it always works. Whether you’re dressing up or dressing down, black clothing is always appropriate. I feel powerful when I wear black and always ready for whatever the day is gonna throw at me. I scored these badass black overalls for only $20 at H&M.. (I couldn’t pass that up) and I paired them with a simple black cropped top and of course my birks. An easy go too look for running around the city on semi-hot days. Also, HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO NOPITYINTHECITY!
Due to this rainy weather and not feeling too well, it was a struggle to even attempt to shoot some pictures today. But, I want to keep my promise with you guys in providing a new post every Monday so I decided to show you what’s inspiring my summer style this year. According to Harpers Bazaar, lace and nautical anything is the way to go this summer and to be honest I’m really loving it. I’ve been really into light weight pieces and found myself leaning more towards colors such as white, blue and grey. (not all black?.. WHAT A SHOCKER! don’t worry, you’ll still see me adding in black to these outfits somehow.) Adding pieces such as a little white dress with lace detailing, striped t-shirts, and denim anything, you’ll find yourself ready and of course trendy for this summer! Also, if you’re in to finding designer looks for way less like I am, I suggest checking out websites such as DAILYLOOK.COM, BOOHOO.COM and MISSGUIDED.COM.. I recently ordered a few items from them and I can’t wait to show you guys!<a
Weekends off from work mean nothing but adventures. This weekend was without a doubt one of the best. Between Gov Ball and then roaming around Brooklyn, I got a taste of what this summer will (hopefully) be like. For days like yesterday with weather that was to me, pretty much picture perfect (I mean, look at the lighting in these photos.. thank you photography gods) I opted for a more casual look. A simple striped tee and ripped jeans is really my go to look for every season. It’s easy, comfortable and doesn’t involve too much effort. Since it did get a bit breezy at some points of the day, I just threw on my over sized denim jacket and for shoes, I chose my birkenstocks because they go with everything and have become my favorite shoes at the moment no matter how ugly people think they are. Well, this weather is just about as bipolar as I am.. which makes getting dressed everyday just another stressful task. One day it’s 90 degrees and I’m a sweaty mess then the next day it’s windy and cold and I’m just a mess. So with that being said, this is where the art of layering comes into play. I’ve paired a minimal black dress with an oversized lightweight sweater to give me just the right amount of clothing for whatever this weather is today. The best thing about layering is that if the sun decided to come out today, you can easily peel of the sweater and tie it around your waist and still look put together. While I was searching for style inspo before shooting pictures, I came across a quote that stated “don’t sacrifice style for comfort” and that is exactly what this look is all about.

It doesn’t really feel like spring outside but in my mind (and my closet) I’ve decided that I’m over winter wear and I’m ready to start adding in some spring pieces. With the help of Aritzia, (which if you follow me on my social media you probably know is where I work) finding the perfect spring pieces is easy. This jacket takes comfort to a whole new level and works with just about anything. It’s one of those pieces that you’ll want in your closet to complete any outfit. Along with this jacket, Aritzia’s bucket bag is to die for. The detailing in the leather and hardware had me in love at first sight. It’s a great bag for pretty much everything considering how much you can actually fit inside of it. If you enjoyed this look, head over to http://www.aritzia.com to shop these pieces and check out @aritzia on Instagram for styling tips! I am also happy to announce that I have become a part of Aritzia’s Social Media Team as a new contributor, so keep updated by following me on instagram @nopityinthecity for daily outfit inspiration, tips and much more!
